Vanitas Affair
The vanitas still life (Latin vanitas "vanity", "void") is a type of still life painting, especially in the Baroque period. In it, the depiction of inanimate objects is supplemented by symbols of transience. Vanitas symbols are intended to remind of the transience of life and earthly goods.
